The Forrest/Lamar County Forestry Association is excited to announce a Women in Forestry field day that will be held on Saturday, October 11th at the Meador Homestead, 6775 U.S. 49 Hattiesburg MS 39402.  An exciting day has been put together with an array of interesting, important, and current topics with engaging speakers.  The registration fee for the event will be $15 for individuals and $20 for couples.  This registration will include all of the tours/educational presentations and will also include lunch catered by the host site including cast iron cooked lunch, sides, dessert and a drink. 

Sign-up will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a tour/history of the over 100 year old wooden cabin immediately following at 8:30.  The property tour will be followed by a walk in the woods/tree ID session by local forestry and wildlife professionals, on the site as well as a session that will cover quilting.  Prior to lunch will be a presentation by Dr. Gene Blythe, Associate Research Professor at the South MS Branch Experiment Station in Poplarville.  Dr. Blythe’s specialty is ornamental horticulture and will be discussing how to attract pollinators (hummingbirds, honeybees, butterflies, etc.) to your backyard.
